Jesse "Bennie" Blackwell
Inman, SC

Jesse Bennie Blackwell, 86, of 916 Wesley Court, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021, at Wesley Court Assisted Living Community. Bennie was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on September 24, 1934, a son of the late Jess Furman Blackwell and Myrtle Cleo Harris Blackwell. He was the husband of Alice Marlow Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell was a United States Army veteran, a 1957 graduate of Clemson University, a retired employee of Mayfair Mills, and a master gardener. He was a member of United Methodist Church of the Covenant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Blackwell is survived by three sons: Jesse Bennie Blackwell, Jr. and his wife, Caren, of Rincon, Georgia; Michael Edward Blackwell and his wife, Elizabeth, of Inman, South Carolina; Otto Scott Blackwell and his wife, Mechelle, of Mauldin, South Carolina. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Joshua Blackwell and his wife, Kim; Caleb Blackwell; Leah B. Kaisner and her husband, Drew; Lauren Blackwell and her fiance', Kaleb Martin: two great-grandchildren, Connor Blackwell and Kinsley Blackwell.
In addition to his parents, Bennie was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Edward Blackwell.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at United Methodist Church of the Covenant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, conducted by Rev. Heather Humphries and Dr. Steve Morgan. Services can be streamed online at www.umccovenant.org
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church of the Covenant, Building Fund, 9020 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29316.

Bennie was such a loving kind gentle soul. Oh how he loved his family and what pride he had in each of you. Our world lost a wonderful man. May you know and feel the peace and love that only God can provide but also please know we pray for each of you. The Blackwells will always be special to our family.

I remember Mr Blackwell and the boys growing up in Fairforest. He was the nicest man and he and Mrs Blackwell were well revered in our community. May he Rest In Peace and my prayers are with you .

We are so very sorry to hear about Bennie! He was a great man who loved his wonderful wife , sons & their families! I met Bennie in 1975 while working with Alice at School!
