Tribute & Message From The Family

James "Kyle" Settle, of Inman, 36, passed away on August 10, 2021 in the arms of his wife, who will carry on his legacy, along with their children, of faith and family.

Kyle graduated Chapman HS in 2003 and The Citadel (F-Troop) in 2007. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He met his wife Jennifer at Clemson in November 2004. They began dating immediately & were married in August 2008.

Kyle was so proud of his children, Kinsley Anne, Wyatt, and Mary Hartwell. He was always on the ball field, in the stands, or on the wrestling mat cheering them on. Kyle took the time to foster relationships, and after the Lord's, his wife & kids' were the most important.

Kyle was an active member of his community, serving time on the Inman Chamber of Commerce board and completing Leadership Spartanburg. Kyle worked for DPR Construction in Greenville, SC & he also worked alongside his father assisting with Yaupon Construction in Inman, SC. Kyle led a men's Bible Study and the family faithfully attended their church.

He loved the Clemson Tigers and the Citadel Bulldogs, sometimes waking his kids up with his cheering during late night games. Kyle loved the outdoors - fishing, hunting, and tending cattle. Kyle never did things halfway, and our cattle program was well regarded after just a few years due to his hard work and research.

Kyle is survived by his wife of 13 years, Jennifer Gilbert Settle, his children Kinsley Anne (10), Wyatt (7), & Mary Hartwell (2), parents Randy & Julie Settle, two brothers Ryan (Ashley) & Clay (Tory), parents-in-law Craig & Kathleen Gilbert, sister-in-law Katy Furr (Stephen), nieces Emma, Avery Grace, & Sadie Mae, nephews Benjamin & Reed, grandmother Patricia Keadle and great Aunt Frankie Shehan, and a special honorary brother Jonathan Fowler (Jenna & kids Kade and Kennedy Reese). He was also loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends. He is predeceased by grandparents Spencer Keadle, Larry Settle, and Dot Settle.

The family will be receiving family & friends at Seawright Funeral Home on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 4-6pm. A funeral will be held at Church at the Mill in Moore, SC on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 1pm. A private family burial will follow.

Mask will be optional.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local soup kitchen or American Heart Association.

My husband and I met Kyle at Fluor, straight out of college, and I remember the Structural picnic where we met his first baby girl. Now I am holding his young children in my heart as I grieve his passing. My sincere condolences go out to Kyle's entire family. Rest in Peace, Kyle.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy for your loss. I did not know Kyle personally but his grandfather Larry was a cousin. My mother was Alice Powell Washington, 1st cousin to Oleta Settle. I visited them as a child. I remember making ice cream on a Sunday afternoon. I will continue to keep the family in prayer.

I worked with Kyle at Fluor in Greenville from the time he was hired right out of college until I retired in 2014. He was a very talented engineer and a great person to work with. I am saddened by his passing and want his family to know that he will remain someone that I will always remember fondly.

Randy/Julie/and Family:

My family and I are extremely saddened to get the news about Kyle. I asked the church family at Jacksons Grove Methodist at Landrum to pray for your family last Sunday at our prayer time. Your entire family have always been one that we admired as some of the best, hardest working, and nicest people we have met. My family and I are hoping for things to be on the upswing in the coming months and years. We send our sincere condolences to each of you! I will never forget a lot of times you all have helped me in not only making decisions with your advice, but lending a helping hand in the old days at LHS. May Kyle rest in peace!

He never missed his Soaping! He always listened, he always encouraged and held us accountable.
