Campobello, SC

Garland Mathis, 85, of 6804 Highway 11, Campobello, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at his residence.
Mr. Mathis was born in Rutherfordton, NC on November 6, 1935, a son of the late Maude Pack Mathis and Furman Mathis. He was the husband of 65 years to Bonnie Honeycutt Mathis of the home. He retired from YC Ballenger, contracting with Duke Power and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Mr. Mathis was a member of the New Prospect Ruritan Club and was a former member of New Prospect Fire Department.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters; Anna Tucker of Inman, Cynthia Large of Wellford, two grandchildren; Jessica Pitts (Adam) and Amanda Raines, six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by three brothers, Gerald Dean Mathis, Charles Mathis, William Mathis and a sister Dorothy Walker.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, October 18th at New Prospect Baptist Church in Inman with Rev. Matthew Bishop and Rev. Joe White officiating. The family is at the home and will receive friends 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday, October 18th at New Prospect Baptist Church. Burial will follow in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
